Formerly of Kalamazoo Albert died early Monday morning, July 20, 2009, at his home in Allegan, MI. He was born March 23, 1926, in Detroit, MI a son of Joseph G. and Blanche A. Tessier Brunelle and grew up as one of twenty-four children. He served in the US Navy during World War II. At the age of nine, Albert learned the trade of carpentry from his father and continued his trade for over 60 years. Albert was a very talented carpenter and enjoyed restoring older homes as a hobby. In 1977, he moved to Kalamazoo where he was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph Michigan Catholic Conference. Albert was also a very involved member of Comstock V.F.W. Post 6252, serving as Post Commander and as Chaplain for DADS. On June 16, 1945, he was united in marriage with the former Bernardine Rutkowski who preceded him in death on April 22, 1983. Albert was also preceded in death by his parents, 11 siblings, 2 sons-in-law and 4 grandchildren. He is survived by: nine children, JulieAnn Brunelle of Holland, Paulette Jones of Missouri, Rochelle Lester Bliss of Holland, David Jackie Brunelle of Allegan, Lorretta Brunelle of Holland, Lorraine Marvin Miles of Holland, Celine Clifford Garlock of Allegan Mark Brunelle of California and Cassandra Robert Miles of Allegan; 22grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 12 siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. At 1:00 pm there will be a procession from the funeral home to Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park for graveside services and military honors provided by Comstock VFW Post 6252. Albert's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services.
