John W. Brown, Jr. VII

BROWN, Mr. John W. Jr. VII of Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday evening April 6, 2007. John was born March 16, 1931 in Benton Harbor, Michigan a son of John and Margareta Kuhn Brown, Jr. VI. During the Korean conflict he served with the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor JC, Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan where he was a member of the Michigan marching band. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1957 and was employed with the Kalamazoo Public Schools for 35 years as a teacher and principal retiring in 1992. He was also a member of the Kalamazoo Jaycees and the Phi Delta Kappa Education Fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents. On January 31, 1970, he was united in marriage to Ruth B. Meininger Brown who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Holly Michael Edick of Portage; a grandson, Austin Edick; a cousin, Dwight Mary Cooper of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Ruth L. Meininger of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 o?clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
