Formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan John died Friday, February 5, 2010, in Traverse City. He was born December 9, 1938, in Kalamazoo, MI the son of John and Anna Hamminga Stryker. John served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and then worked for Pepsi until his retirement in 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are: two sons, David Jannette Stryker of Plainwell and Douglas J. Stryker of Comstock; eight grandchildren, Nichole Stryker, Rebecca Jones, Lauren Jones, Rachelle Jones, Leise Brian Rosman, Alison Grimmer, Mitchell Grimmer, and Suzanne Grimmer; a great-grandson, Caleb Stryker; a sister, June Art Scheffers; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2:00 Friday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St., with Pastor Jim Dyke, officiating. Burial in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park will follow services. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
