John Maring

MARING, Mr. John
Kalamazoo, Michigan John died early Sunday morning, October 5, 2008, at his home. He was born July 19, 1925, in Bedum, The Netherlands, a son of Klaas and Jantje Batts Maring. From 1946 to 1950 he was a member of the Marechausee, serving in Indonesia and The Netherlands. In 1955 he moved with his family to the United States and resided in Kalamazoo. John was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Maring. On April 2, 1952, John was united in marriage with the former Wilhelmina "Wilma" F. Van de Ven, who survives. Also surviving are: four children and their spouses, Klaas Sherry Maring of Portage, Marja Dave DeVries of Kalamazoo, Jannie Ron Glerum of Portage and Suzy Jim Lemmer of Portage; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marten Maring of The Netherlands and Harry Eike Maring of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Wednesday morning at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd., with the Rev. Dr. Harry Arnold, officiating. Interment in Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery will follow services.
