Of Kalamazoo Went to be with his Lord, Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2013 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. John was born April 23, 1921 in Kalamazoo the son of Jacob and Gertrude Schipper Lingbeek and had been a lifelong resident in Kalamazoo. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. John worked for Godfrey Lumber Company for several years before becoming a co-owner of the Kalamazoo Biscuit Company, where he worked for 26 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church and former member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church where he served on the consistory. On November 19, 1949 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Ruth Camp, who preceded him in death on August 26, 2005. John was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Jack Lingbeek; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Lingbeek. Surviving are his two daughters, Jayne Kurt Nendorf of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Barbara Mark Pulver of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Justin Pulver of Kalamazoo, Zachary Pulver of Charleston, SC; a sister-in-law, Nell Lingbeek of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held on Monday at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Second Christian Reformed Church, or Rose Arbor Hospice. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick.
