John A. Klimp

KLIMP, John A.
of Kalamazoo Passed away January 17, 2012, in Kalamazoo. He was born January 19, 1930 in Kalamazoo to the late Albert and Adrianna Kloosterman Klimp. John was united in marriage to Margret E. Weinberg in 1949, who preceded him in death in 1998. John made a career out of his passion of driving truck. He was a longtime member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church. He loved gospel music and sang in the church choir as well as the Kalamazoo Men's Choir. In later years, he enjoyed driving and showing his 1949 Dodge truck. Surviving John are: his children, Marjorie Michael Berry of Dearborn, MI, Rev. Ronald Beth Klimp of Cadillac, MI, Donald Hertha Klimp of Kalamazoo, John Jill Klimp of Kalamazoo, Mary Jim VanderWal of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Jim Klimp of Portage; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; sister Crystal Raymond DeVries; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding John in death were a daughter-in-law, Janice Klimp and granddaughter, Rebecca Klimp. Family will greet friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave. Services will take place 11:00 Saturday morning at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, 9316 Oakland Dr., Portage, MI 49024. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church.
