John J. Bouma

BOUMA, John J.
Texas Township Passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. John was born November 10, 1919 in Portage, MI, the son of Peter and Elizabeth Timmer Bouma and was a life long area resident. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the China, Burma, India Theatre during World War II. John owned and operated Portage Auto Service on South Westnedge. After retirement, he especially enjoyed working outside on his property and growing and selling pine trees. John was a member of Calvary Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie in 2002 and by 4 sisters. Surviving are 2 sons, James Bouma and Thomas Julie Bouma, all of Schoolcraft; 3 grandchildren, Jason Karyn Bouma of Scotts, Lori Bouma of Comstock Park, MI and Trevor Bouma of Schoolcraft; a sister Esther Decker of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o?clock on Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with the Rev. Greg VanHeukelom officiating. Interment in Central Portage Cemetery. Friends may meet the family this evening from 6-8 pm at the Portage Chapel. Memorial contributions in John?s memory may be made to Hospice Care of S.W.
