Vicksburg Passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008. John was born January 15, 1956 in Kalamazoo, a son of Marvin and Frances Sipsma Hoekstra and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area. He graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School, was a co-owner of Hoekstra Meat Company and a former member of the Singing Crusaders Male Chorus. He was a good hearted person who enjoyed helping other people. John is survived by 2 daughters, Kristen and Heidi; 3 grandchildren; his parents, Marvin and Frances Hoekstra of Kalamazoo; brothers and sisters, M. Gerald Kathleen Hoekstra, Joyce Larry Hanford, Jim Lori Hoekstra, Helen Tom Tompkins and Tim Camille Hoekstra; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 PM in the Vicksburg Cemetery with Rev. Dick Stravers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Sunday from 2-6 PM.
