Kalamazoo, Michigan Dick passed away Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born August 18, 1933 in Grosse Pointe, MI, the son of John and Alta Riddle Hawkins. Dick was employed by Consumers Power for 34 years until his retirement in 1989. On March 19, 1955, Dick was united in marriage to Joyce Newbre, who survives. Also surviving are 2 children, John II fiancée Sherri Lieber Hawkins of Gladwin, and Leslie Hawkins-Kuhtic of Vicksburg; 6 grandchildren, Katie Adam McCausland, John Hawkins, James Hawkins, Nicholas Kuhtic, Alisha Kuhtic, and Amy Churchill; 1 brother, Gerald Shirley Hawkins of Kalamazoo; 1 sister, Linda Repins of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were 1 daughter, Margaret Jean Churchill; and his parents. Funeral services for Dick will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. Theda McBryde officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
