John Duane Fowle

FOWLE, John Duane Of Portage John passed away Sunday evening August 19, 2007. He was born May 3, 1925 in Kalamazoo the son of John G. and Alice Marie Davis Fowle and has been a lifelong resident. John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of the Stockbridge Ave United Methodist Church. John was a graduate of WMU and was a business manager, retiring from the U.S. Post Office as Regional Director of Finance. On July 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Janette Birkhimer who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Tom Fowle of Portage and Dick Janet Fowle of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Ami James Pishlo, Daniel Fowle, Nathan Fowle, Sarah David Bronkhorst, Jill Scott Gregory and Raymond Meli Clark; great-grandchildren, Laylah and David Bronkhorst, Hannah, Hallee and Nickolas Bourekas; two sisters, Donna Cleveland and Alta Champion; several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wanda Sexton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 1-2 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. where Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday with Rev. John Moore officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Central Portage Cemetery. Memorials in John?s memory may be directed to the Stockbridge Ave United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
