FENNEMA, John M.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with his Lord and Savior December 29, 2009 at Rose Arbor Hospice Care. He was born May 23, 1935 in Cutlerville, MI to the late Gerrit and Lois Laninga Fennema. John was united in marriage on May 17, 1963 to Jacquilyn Dygert, who survives. John served in the U.S. Army from September of 1954 until honorably discharged in September of 1956. He attended Calvin College and is a graduate of UofM and MSU. He was employed with Parker-Hannifin, as an engineer, for 27 years. As a longstanding member of North Park Reformed Church, he served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and sang with the Men of Praise. John was an encouraging, compassionate and loving husband, father and grandfather. John loved to travel and enjoyed outdoor activities, golfing, motorcycling, jeeping and sports. He volunteered at the Kalamazoo Deacon's Conference and was a member of Gideons International. Also surviving John are his children, Dennis Peggy Fennema of Holland, MI and Andrea Rick Burlingham of Richland, MI; three grandchildren, Alexandria, Silas and Samantha; brothers, James Mary Fennema, Paul Donna Fennema and David Evelyn Fennema; sisters, Mary Fennema, Irma Fennema and Esther Gerken; and many nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Services will take place Tuesday, 11:00 o'clock at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Rd., Kalamazoo. Burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery will follow the luncheon.
