ELLIS, John Harold
Kalamazoo, Michigan John Harold died at home peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008. He was born November 16, 1918 in Pleasant Plane, IL, the son of the late Clyde and Dora Pierce Ellis. John Harold was a veteran of both the United States Marine Corp, and the United States Navy serving during World War II as a medic. He was employed by the Upjohn Co. for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. On November 25, 1939, John Harold was united in marriage to Elizabeth Greene in Kalamazoo, who survives. Also surviving are their 2 children, Deborah Bruce Moore of Plainwell, and Beth Bill Barrett of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Jason Kelley Moore, NannetteDavid Stultz, Chad Natalie Moore, Erin Jason Chapman, and Kyle Barrett; 3 great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Moore, and Makayla Stultz; 3 sisters, Fay Dix VanDaff of Battle Creek, Barb Zoutman of Parchment, and Dena Stewart of Kalamazoo; 1 brother, Vernon Sandy Ellis of Kalamazoo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; 1 brother, Gale Ellis; and 1 sister, Ethel Ellis. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Rev. Jerry D. Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Thursday tomorrow at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Westwood Church of God or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
