CARTER, Mr. John R.
Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning July 2, 2008. John was born April 24, 1921 in Alvin, Illinois a son of Claude and Belle Davis Carter. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with Signal Delivery for 10 years before retring. Years ago, he owned Carter Fuel Service. He was also a member of Twin Lakes Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Tyrus and James Carter. On November 9, 1940, he was united in marriage to Marjorie D. Behrens Carter who survives. Also surviving, 4 daughters, Carol Larry Hapner of Kalamazoo, Sally Tim Williams and Tyrean Robert Kirkpatrick all of Clearmont, FL, and Kit Ken DeJong of Schoolcraft; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Ben Cohen, Mitch Kaisa Hapner, Amanda Pierre Brown, Megan Williams, Matthew Jennings, Tyler Jennings, and Kyle Jennings; and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock Monday at the Friendship Village KIVA Room, 1400 North Drake Rd. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service in the Kiva Room. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Schoolcraft or the Canine Companions for Independence, P.O.
