Formerly of Union City Passed away Wednesday evening, July 29, 2008. John was born July 2, 1938 in Detroit the son of John and Olive Pepple Carman. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force with the Strategic Air Command. Prior to his retirement he worked for several years as an Accountant. John loved to attend and hear about his grandchildren's sporting events, dabble with computers, music, and just being social with family and friends. On August 23, 1963 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Cara Minegar who survives. Also surviving are his children, Julie Jeff Callaway, Marc Daynor Carman, 5 grandchildren, Alexis, Rachel, Collin, Carter, and Hannah Callaway; brothers and sisters, Beverly Smith, Marvin Marcia Carman, Barbara Jim George, Jerry Carman; his aunt, Ruby Heckathorn; and several nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sisters, Patricia Hughes and Nancy Carman. A service to celebrate John's life will be held 12:00PM Friday at the Portage Free Methodist Church, 1715 W. Centre, with Pastor Mark Cryderman officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center.
