Portage, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008. John was born January 7, 1962 in Sturgis, the son of Max and Ann E. Stroud Berger and had lived in the Portage area for many years. He had been employed by the Pfizer Company for 28 years as a chemical operator. John was a loving husband and proud father who enjoyed watching his son, Zachary playing T-ball, loved playing golf and was an avid fan of the University of Michigan football team and the Detroit Tigers. John's survivors include his wife, Maureen Brady Berger; their son, Zachary Levi Berger; his parents, Max and Ann Berger; his sisters, Fawn Mark Whitley of Cynthiana, KY and Kay Mike Hamm of Albuquerque, NM; his parents-in-law, Linda and Jack Brady; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-4 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Friends and family are also invited to a luncheon on Sunday, beginning at 3:00 PM at the home of the Brogan's, 532 105th Avenue, Plainwell, MI, phone number 685-8440.
