Portage, MI Passed away Saturday evening October 8, 2011 at his home. John was born November 14, 1947 in Battle Creek, Michigan a son of John F. and Dorothy Crites Beltz. During the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1975 and was employed with Pfizer for 31 years, retiring in November of 2007. John was also proud of his achievement of being an Eagle Scout. He was preceded in death by his parents. On August 22, 1968, he was united in marriage to Barbara "Bobbie" J. Gartman Beltz who survives. Also surviving, 3 daughters, Shanon John Gerland of Huntersville, NC, Julie Matt Fehl of Spring, TX, and Cheryl Beltz of Portage; 3 grandchildren, Lawson, Camden, and Riley; his brother, Bob Deb Beltz of Ceresco, MI; 2 nieces, Sally and Sarah; and several cousins. Services will be held 10 o'clock Thursday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center or Relay For Life "Family Ties". www.langelands.com .
