John Beeke

BEEKE, John Portage, Michigan Passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010. John was born February 24, 1936 in Kalamazoo, a son of Bastian and Johanna Gruizinga Beeke and was a lifelong resident of the area. He served his country in the United States Army and worked for BFI for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery in 1992; and a brother, Chris Beeke. On September 8, 1967, he married Joyce Heacock, who survives. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Adrian Beeke, William Beverly Beeke, Grace Thrasher, Ethel Stan Mack and Robert Vonnie Beeke; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E, Centre Ave., with Rev. John Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given the Alzheimer's Association.
