Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday evening March 17, 2010. Jody was born into an extremely loving family in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 5, 1959. She was raised in Wyoming, Michigan and graduated from Rogers High School in 1977. After graduation, she attended Michigan State University in the Veterinary Technician Program and graduated as a Licensed Vet. Technician in 1979. She worked at Benson Animal Hospital in Lansing, MI and the Animal Clinic in Grand Rapids, MI before joining the former Upjohn Company as a Biochemistry Tech. She left Upjohn Pharmacia in 1996 and joined the Critter Sitter as a pet-sitter in 1997, became co-owner in 1999, and split from Critter Sitter in January 2003 to own an Jody's Pampered Pets, LLC. Jody loved animals all her life, and devoted her life to the care and love of them. She was owned by many pets over the years, currently by Bressa, Sabra, Tennessee, Laney, and P.C. and Tangie, and Zoey. Jody was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jack and Elaine Nelson. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Linda Nelson and Gary and Judy Nelson, nephews, Greg, Gary Jr., Tracey and Jason Audra Nelson, nieces, Lori Reuben and Jen Derek, several great nieces and nephews, and her husband, Curtis Kuilema. In Jody's memory, please consider memorial contributions to Animal Meals on Wheels Services. In her memory, please hug and kiss and for at least one animal and one human each day for a month. She would gratefully appreciate these thoughts and any random act of kindness you have the opportunity to do. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.
