JoAnne Marie Raven

JoAnne M. Raven, age 90, of Portage, MI, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Provision Living, Oshtemo, MI. JoAnne was born January 27, 1933 to Lyle and Leora (Smith) Holmes in Kalamazoo, Ml. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. On March 24, 1951, JoAnne was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jack R. Raven. They resided in Portage, MI, and were married for 57 years before Jack went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2008. JoAnne was also preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Leora Holmes, and siblings, Merle, Alvin, and Harry Holmes, and Lyleen Fogelsong. She is survived by her children, Vickie (Dan) Decamp, and Lyle (Marilyn) Raven; 9 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

In 1978, after many years of faithful prayer by her mother Leora and brother Merle, JoAnne, and in time her entire family, trusted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. JoAnne was a long-time member of Berean Baptist Church, and followed Jesus faithfully from the time she was saved in 1978, until she left this earth on November 22, 2023. We rejoice to know that on November 22, 2023, solely by the goodness and grace of God, her faith became sight as she entered into heaven and beheld her Savior face-to-face.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 10:30-11:30am at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S 12th St, Portage, MI, with the service following at 11:30am. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the church. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta MI, at 2:00pm.
