Caring nurse, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on December 1, 2015. She was born on November 27, 1936, in Kalamazoo, to the late Frank and Clarice (Patnode) Bartholomew. Joann served as a nurse in various hospitals and nursing homes, concluding her career at 72, at The Oaks. She loved a good book, her flower garden, her church, and especially her family. Along with her loving husband of 60 years, Mahlon, they fostered 18 children. Joann will be missed by her husband; her children, Karen (Jim) Robertson of Schoolcraft, and Craig (Logan) Roe of Schoolcraft; her grandchildren, Cameron (Angela) Robertson, Caitlin Robertson, Ashley (Evan) Beers, and Natalie Roe; and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Janet (Jim) Thomas of Yuma, AZ, her brother Jack (Mildred) Bartholomew of Ionia, step-sister, Janice (Paul) Cooper of Haines City, FL, and step-brother Robert (Carlene) Randall of NC; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service held Thursday, December 17 at 11:00 AM at the Climax United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Battle Creek Humane Society or to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
