HIMSCHOOT, Mrs. Joann P.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Joann Patricia Himschoot, age 77, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2013. She was born September 22, 1935, in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Floyd and Hazel Walden Wallace. Joann graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1953. She married Donald Himschoot on October 8, 1955 and after raising her family worked at Zayre Ames. Joann loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was a long time member of St. Augustine Cathedral. Joann was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Tom and Howard Wallace. She is survived by: her husband, Donald; four children, Patty Dave Butler of Kalamazoo, Tom Mary Louise Himschoot of Mishawaka, IN, Jane Daryl Powell of Lapeer and Steve Himschoot of Otsego; seven grandchildren, Jared & Danielle Butler, Misty Brandon Yanowski, Sarah & Jacob Himschoot and Cy & Selena Himschoot; three great-grandchildren, Lydia & Baylyn Yanowski and Kiera Butler; a sister, Sharon Greg Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm, with a rosary service to begin at 7 pm, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 Monday morning at St. Augustine Cathedral, 542 W. Michigan Ave., with Msgr. Thomas Martin, presider. Graveside services will be held 1:30 Monday afternoon in Ft Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should be in the cemetery cortege area by 1:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Augustine Cathedral or the American Heart Association.
