BOTIMER, Joann M. Davis
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Joann passed away Monday morning, December 28, 2009 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born May 15, 1933 in Merrill, Wisconsin the daughter of Claude M. and Gladys M. Hollingsworth Davis. Joann was a 1957 graduate of Emmanuel Missionary College. On July 25, 1957, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Botimer in San Antonio, Texas. Member of the Kalamazoo SDA Church since 1970, sang in the choir at that time, and also with the Kalamazoo Oratorio Society for several years. She taught Piano several years in her home and one year at the Kalamazoo Jr. Academy. Her hobbies were keeping plants and generally tending her home which was very important to her. She did day-care in her home for many years and regrets she did not keep a record of the children that moved through her home. She also spent several years working at Indian Prairie Elementary School and serving at MacKenzies' Bakery. Prior to moving to Kalamazoo she worked at the Review and Herald Publishing office in Silver Springs, Maryland, then moved over to Walter Reed Army Hospital. When her husband was in school she did day-care in her home and enjoyed doing ceramics for a period. She enjoyed travel, first with her family, then later with her husband, a highlight of which was a motor trip to Alaska, then later to Labrador, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. She traveled to Jamaica, and later Trinidad, W.I. She always enjoyed seeing her children and grandchildren when they would visit. They were always very important to her. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Richard; their four children, Michelle Jeff Ancel of Lansing, Renee Brian Welsh of Leo, Indiana, Patrick Jocey Botimer of Groton, NY, and April Vince DeLange of Mattawan; nine grandchildren, Michael Orrison, Brian Ancel, Heather Orrison, Matthew Ancel, Alex Botimer, Derek DeLange, Lucas DeLange, Alex Welsh, and Zachary Welsh. Preceding her in death were one son, Kevin Botimer; and her parents. Memorial services for Joann will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday at Kalamazoo Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1601 Nichols Road, with Pastor Michael Nickless officiating. Private interment will be in Ft.
