Joan Elizabeth Hinz

HINZ, Joan Elizabeth Portage, Michigan Age 79, passed away October 10, 2009. She was born May 16, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Andrew and Gertrude McGeachy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Conrad. She was the head reference librarian at Kalamazoo College for 17 years. She is survived by sons, Timothy Karen Hinz of Clearwater, Florida; Thomas Hinz of New York City; and a daughter Beth Marvin Vastbinder of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren: Anne Josh Langlois, Christy, Joshua, Fred Hinz and Micah Betsey, Jana, and Joel Vastbinder as well as 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Ann Tenpenny of Tennesee. She leaves to mourn many friends and neighbors and her "family" at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held 1:00 o'clock Thursday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1515 Helen St. Friends may meet the family this evening from 5-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E.
