Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2015. Age 86. Joan was born February 12, 1929 to her wonderful parents, John and Blanche Guhse Chapman. She is survived by her sister, Janet Loucks; her niece, Wendy Chris Bentley; and her grandnieces, Amber Sprinkle and Ryanne Bentley. Miss Chapman graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1946. She was a secretary for the Board of Education until 1952. Joan then became a secretary at The Style Shop. From there she worked in the office at Gilmore Brothers for twenty one years. Joan retired from G.L. Perrys after working there for thirteen years. There will be no visitation and private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. A celebration of Joan's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Oakwood Neighborhood Association, 3320 Laird Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
