Jim died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, on Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was born January 26, 1931, in Schoolcraft, MI, a son of Albert E. and Florence Hazel Weaver Reish and had been a lifelong area resident. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Alberta Reish and Minnie Frank, and his brother, Ronald "Bud" Reish. Surviving are: Frances Foster Reish, daughters Rebecca Jason Lautar of Boca Raton, FL and Karen Reish of Nashville, TN; his sister, Alice Pierce of Schoolcraft, and extended family. Jim and Fran enjoyed 53 years of marriage, spending their retirement years travelling, gardening and enjoying their life together. Jim served as a locomotive engineer with ConRail Railroad for 42 ½ years, retiring in 1993. His career began while he was serving in the US Army, and he enjoyed the railroad because it allowed him to travel and meet new people, activities that he continued to enjoy after retirement. Jim always enjoyed a good conversation and sharing laughs with people he met. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Thursday morning at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with Rev. Victor Downing, officiating. Jim's family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Schoolcraft Cemetery. Jim's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
