ALLEN, Jesse J.
Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008. Jesse was born April 24, 1924 in Doniphan, MO, a son of Lewis and Ottie Jackson Allen and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. During WW II, he served his country in the United States Army-Air Corps and had been employed as a shipping foreman for General Motors for 19 years before retiring. Jesse was a family man who was happiest when he was out of doors, where he loved keeping his yard neatly trimmed. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and 7 brothers; and a grandson, John Bates. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Hurn Allen; their children, Karen Gary Bates of Greenville, NC, and Steven Sue Allen of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Brandy and Weston Allen; a sister, Ellen Jonas; 5 brothers, Terry Lucy Allen, Lindel Louise Allen, John Gail Allen, Gayland Jill Allen and Don Linda Allen; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with Pastor Ken Smeader officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
