Mejeur, Jerry
Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Friday, June 29, 2012. Age 93 years. Jerry was born August 13, 1918, the son of the late Hemmo J. and Martha Hoeksema Mejeur. He was married to Anna Mae DeRoo on June 15, 1942; she preceded him in death on December 28, 2002, after 60 years of marriage. He served with the United States Army for 3 ½ years in the 104th Infantry Division during the European Theater of Operation in World War II. He worked as a brick mason and stonemason for over fifty years. Jerry was a member of Hope Reformed Church and was instrumental in the block and brickwork of the original construction of the church. He enjoyed gardening, grilling traveling, golfing, fishing and hunting. Surviving are two children, Carol James Rider of Annapolis, MD and Larry Mejeur of Lawrence, MI; four grandchildren, Heidi, Holly, Steve and Lance; one brother, Joseph Mejeur of Kalamazoo; one sister, Marian Penny of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Mejeur and Adrianna Nedervelt; and one brother, Garrett Mejeur. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Hope Reformed Church, 910 Jenks Blvd. Rev. Kent Frens will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service on Monday. Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date in Ft.
