Of Portage Passed away Monday morning, November 1, 2010. Jerry was born March 5, 1960 in Kalamazoo the son of Dave, Sr. and Arlyene MacPherson Cox and had been a life long resident in the Kalamazoo area. He owned and operated Sign Crafters for 25 years and was a very talented artist and inventor. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dave Cox, Sr. On May 26, 2001 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Anna. He is also a wonderful father of two children, Sophia and Ty, all surviving. Jerry was not only a great father and husband, but an avid bowler, and golfer, as well as having a love for fishing. He loved the outdoors and camping with his family and friends. He was a true family man that enjoyed spending time with his wife and kids. He enjoyed swimming with his daughter Sophia and building things with his son Ty. Whether it was playing pool or singing karaoke, he loved doing it all. Most of all he was known for his great smile. Surviving besides his wife and children are his mother, Arlyene Cox; brothers and sisters, Dave Cox, Jr., Bob Joy Cox, Tom Cox, Lori Duane Lamb, Amy Burns; parents-in-law, Cathy and Blas Liceaga; brother-in-law, Rico Christine Liceaga; nieces and nephews, Jimmy Lamb, Jennifer DeHaan, Aaron and Austin Cox, Kyle and Kameron Kampen, Kaitlynne Burns, Ashlee Cox, Tanner, Robert, and Travis Brodhagen, Angel and Cameron Liceaga and several great nieces and nephews; and many very close friends that Jerry considered his family. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street where a memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at 11:00 o'clock Friday. Immediately following the service friends are invited to join the family at the St. John Bosco Hall, 23830 Front St. in Mattawan. Private family burial will be at a later date.
