Jerry D. Barker

Jerry Dewayne Barker, age 88 of Mattawan, died at White Oaks on June 11, 2024. He was born on January 6, 1936, in Pennville, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Martha (Blakely) Barker. Jerry worked for Swift-Eckrich in Kalamazoo for 29 years, until they closed and he retired. In his retirement, he enjoyed helping do lawn care for his neighbors. He was a member of the Portage Moose Lodge #88 and the Schoolcraft Eagle Lodge #3531. His family includes his children: Roxanne Griffith, Marlene (David) Hall, Mark (Patty) Barker, Karen (Bruce) Baugher, and Dawn (Rick) Doest; his stepchildren: Connie Wesseling, Steven (Angie) Wesseling, and Mike Wesseling; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; his sister Betty (Robert) Webster-Maddron; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet, his son-in-law Roger Griffith, and three brothers and five sisters.

A private burial of cremated remains will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
