GYGAX, Mrs. Jerreline L.
Jackson, MI Jerreline was born March 2, 1927 to Homer and Minette Potter and was raised with her 3 sisters, Betty, Phyllis, and Jacqueline, in Kalamazoo, MI. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and attended Cosmetology school. She enjoyed working with her mother and sisters at Minette's beauty salon in downtown Kalamazoo before her marriage to Fred Gygax in 1953. Shortly thereafter, she became a mother to her 3 sons, Glen in 1955, Gary in 1958, and Steven in 1961 and moved to Battle Creek, MI and then to Jackson, MI. She loved being a Mom and spent most summer days taking them and a slew of neighbor kids to the lake in the station wagon and stopping for ice cream. Tragically, she lost Steven at age 14 in a tragic accident. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church since 1968 and participated in many functions. She belonged to the Women's Club of Jackson and enjoyed Bridge and luncheons. She loved to golf, bowl, do crafts, knit, sew, paint, dance and socialize. Jerrie traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband and family. Spain, Germany, Ireland, Norway, China, Mexico, Cuba , the entire United States and lived in India, Jamaica, and Morocco just to name a few. She also loved to be the Snow Bird and lived in Florida for 4 months each year during the winter. Jerrie loved being a Grandma and doted on her grandchildren, Amber, Matthew and Samantha. She made every occasion special. Her heartfelt hugs and kisses will never be forgotten. A memorial service will be held 11:30 Friday at the St. James Lutheran Church, 4425 South Jackson Road, Jackson, MI 49201. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Anatomical donation has taken place with the University of Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jackson County Humane Society or the St. James Lutheran Church, Jackson, MI.
