Of Kalamazoo, MI Beloved father and community member passed away Friday evening surrounded by his children and family, Jerre was born July 17, 1944. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1962 where he was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Jerre attended Kalamazoo College and Oakland University. For many years he worked for the Upjohn Company in the Clinical Research Unit. His knowledge and love of wine led him to become known as "the wine guy" or "guru" as he was referred to in many articles in the Kalamazoo Gazette. Jerre taught wine appreciation classes at the Park Club and was the host for many wine tasting events throughout west Michigan. He enlightened people to the variety of wines and liqueurs available to them while working at D&W Market, Tiffany's Spirits, and Salut Fine Wines. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Larry in 2007. He is survived by his children, Miranda & Jeremy and his wife Masami, his brother Barry Fate and wife Becky, his sister-in-law Susan Wilgus, and nephews Rhemy Wilgus, Andrew Fate and his wife Tracy, Nicholas Fate, and niece Meghan Fate, and his loving companion Anne Burian and her children, Matthew and his wife Karen Mazer, son Michael and his wife Anne Mokovach, and their children Alex Mokovach and Samuel Burian. Jerre also leaves behind many friends that will miss him dearly. No visitation is scheduled. A Memorial service will take place Thursday, July 30th at 2:00pm, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S.
