LONGMAN, Jerald L.
Of Climax Jerald passed away early Friday morning, April 30, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born April 29, 1934 in Climax, the son of Merle and Madge Roe Longman. Jerald was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He was employed by Kellogg Co. for 19 years until his retirement in 1996. On May 6, 1955, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Johnson. Jerald was a member of Climax United Methodist Church, Southern Michigan Amateur Radio Society SMARS, Knights of Pythias, Scotts Lodge #103, and Free and Accepted Masons Climax-Prairie Lodge #59. He enjoyed building model airplanes, fishing, golfing, and was a baseball fan. Jerald was always fixing something, and right there to help friends or family with their projects. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Longman; two children, Lisé James Patterson of Climax and Paula John Cunningham of New Palestine, IN; four grandchildren, Cody Jessica Patterson, Dylan Patterson, Erica Cunningham, and Casey Cunningham; and two brothers, William Marcia Longman of Litchfield, MI and James Charlene Longman of Climax; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, and two sons, Jay Longman in 1988, and David Longman at birth. Funeral services for Jerald will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Climax United Methodist Church, 133 E. Maple Street, with Rev. Glenn Litchfield officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Sunday today at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street. Private family interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
