Jenny M. Cook, age 94 of Kalamazoo, died on October 22, 2024, at Northwoods Village of Kalamazoo, where she had resided for 5 years. She was born on July 12, 1930, in Edinburgh, Scotland, the daughter of William and Catherine (McCormack) McDonald. At the age of 25, she moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, U.S.A. On May 3, 1959, she married Wallace “Wally” Cook. He preceded her in death in 1989. Jenny worked at Mastercraft as a bookkeeper and was a housekeeper for several families in the area. For over 60 years, she was a member of the North Presbyterian Church where she was a former treasurer. Jenny enjoyed traveling with the senior center, collecting antiques and cuddling babies. She volunteered with the Ministry with Community Soup Kitchen and Loaves and Fishes. She was awarded a plaque for her 20 years of volunteering with the food pantry. Jenny enjoyed knitting hats for Helping Hands through the Coover Center. Jenny had a contagious laugh and enjoyed laughing with her family and friends.
Her family includes her sons: Mark (Grace) Cook and Jeffery Cook; her grandchildren: Jason Cook and Nicole Cook (Brandon Nuyen); her great-grandchildren: Carter and Kayden Cook and Tanner Nuyen; her nephew Ronald Glancy; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wally Cook, and her siblings: Alex, Willy, Jackie, David, Tommy, Cate, and Mary.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Location, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, with Reverend Amber Nettleton officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow at the funeral home.
