Jennie Schiedel

SCHIEDEL, Jennie Portage Jennie went to her heavenly home on Saturday afternoon, January 13, 2007. She was born April 17, 1911 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Harmmunus and Lammechien Triesenberg Huis. Jennie was employed by Portage Public Schools for many years working at Ramona Lane Elementary School. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church, volunteered at Tendercare of Portage nursing home and knitted hats for Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Jennie was an avid bowler in leagues both at Airway Lanes and Holiday Lanes. On February 26, 1930, she was united in marriage to Harold Schiedel in Kalamazoo, who preceded her in death on June 9, 1993. Also preceding her in death are her parents; 1 sister, Dena Goodsell; 3 brothers, John, Raymond, and Henry Huis; and 2 grandsons, Daniel and Gary Schiedel. Surviving are 6 children, Marvin Patty Schiedel of Martin, Robert Jennie Schiedel of Cooper, Donald Nancy Schiedel of Portage, Harold Shirley Schiedel of Bonita Springs, FL, Joyce Donald VanLangegent of Kalamazoo and Kenneth Mary Anne Schiedel of Kalamazoo; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Anna Huis of Lawton; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mrs. Schiedel will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Trinity Reformed Church, 326 W. Cork Street, with Rev. Mike Drew officiating. Private interment will be in Central Portage Cemetery with Rev. Jacques Nel officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Reformed Church or Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
