Age 83
Of Portage Jeanette Margaret Ladner passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2010. She was born on January 21st, 1927 in Astoria, Queens, NY the daughter of Dominic and Antoinette Cuccinello Colucci. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Donald G. Ladner; their three children, Donald G. Ladner, Barbara Thomas Walker, and Allison Randy Ledbetter; her 5 grandchildren whom she cherished, Chris Knapper, Doug Ladner, Steve Ladner, Sam Ledbetter and Anna Ledbetter; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Grace. Preceding her in death were her parents; 1 brother, Dominic; and 1 sister, Amelia. Jeanette was very fond of little children to whom she frequently gave little gifts, and she considered herself to be a grandma to all little children. Jeanette particularly loved watching baseball as several of her family members were professional ball players. The Detroit Tigers were her favorite team. She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and often reminisced about her father making wine and large family gatherings. Jeanette was employed as a teller at Comerica Bank for many years and took great pride in her work there. An open house to celebrate Jeanette's life will be on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 3-7 PM at the home of Barbara & Thomas Walker, 174 Parkland Terrace, Portage. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
