Seward, Jean Lucille
Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Heartland Health Care in Kalamazoo. Age 89. Jean was born in Portland, OR on August 7, 1922, the daughter of the late William Vernon and Jean Fleming Loomis. She was married to John Harry Seward on November 20, 1943; he preceded her in death on September 18, 1986. Jean worked in food service for the Kalamazoo Public Schools, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of Oshtemo United Methodist Church where she started the Food and Fellowship program. She was a member of the PTA, served as president of the Mothers Study Council of Kalamazoo, was a den mother, an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Jean was a caring person and loved to laugh. Surviving are her two sons, John Vernon Patricia Seward of Kalamazoo and James Lee Seward of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kathryn, Amanda and Chad; five great-grandchildren, Lydia, Gavin, Addison, Aidan and Avery; and one nephew, Edward Knauss. A Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Oshtemo United Methodist Church, 6574 Stadium Drive. Pastor Peggy Boltz will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to God's Special People Camp, P.O.
