KRUM, Mr. Jean Cobb
Of Kalamazoo Jean Cobb Krum slipped peacefully away in the early morning hours of November 27, 2007 with his wife by his side. As he lived his life, so he passed with dignity and strength of character. Jean Cobb Krum was born on June 9th, 1918 in Schoolcraft, Michigan. He earnestly lived his life spreading goodwill through his generosity to others and accomplishing great success. Jean?s father, Doty Krum died young and left his mother Amelia Cobb Krum to raise the children, including a brother George & sister Elizabeth Benjamin, who preceded Jean in death, and surviving sister Marcia Hill and half-brother James Stears. Jean?s Grandpa Cobb was an influential force in his life and helped shape the gentleman and businessman he would become. He was a Graduate of Western Michigan University, University of Michigan and Purdue University with Master?s degrees in Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering. He founded Krum Pump Co. and owned JC Krum, Inc. as a real estate developer and industrial property owner. Jean achieved lifetime membership status with the American Society of Engineers. Some of his fondest times were spent at the cottage on Lake Michigan near Hart and enjoying hunting and fishing expeditions in northern Canada. With a great story to tell and an adventurous past, Jean loved evenings at the Beacon Club with a great steak, a fine dinner and an opportunity to entertain. Jean had a long and loving marriage to Elsa Baker Krum who preceded him in death. Together, they raised her children, Roderick Mary Baker of Caznovia, Wisconsin and Margaret Howard Zimmerman of Middleton, Wisconsin. Late in life, Jean found true love again with his surviving wife, Jane Williams-Krum. He enjoyed new additions to his family through her children, Kip Mary Williams of Ypsilanti and Kyle Keiser of Kalamazoo. His legacy continues with 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services to honor the man of small stature but enormous heart will be held on Friday, November 30 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Family visitation will take place from 10-10:30am, public visitation from 10:30am-12:00pm with services by Kathleen Nederhoed at noon.
