HEATH, Mrs. Jane Sidnam
Kalamazoo, MI Passed away at The Springs Nursing Home in Kalamazoo on February 18th 2010. She was born in Kalamazoo on May 21, 1915 and was the daughter of William Northcote Sidnam and Esther Sidnam. She was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. She graduated from Central High School, Kalamazoo College and National College of Education in Evanston, IL. She was an elementary school teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a short period of time. Jane was a member of the Kalamazoo College Alumni Association, the American Association of University Women AAUW and the Kalamazoo Valley Dental Auxiliary. She was active in book groups, investments clubs, tennis and bridge groups. She was a member of the Gull Lake Country Club and an excellent golfer. She was a voluntary tutor in the Kalamazoo Public School system. Jane was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for her entire life. Her husband Frank Allgeo Heath, another long time Kalamazoo resident and a dentist, preceded her in death in 1997. Her brothers Verne Sidnam of Carmel, CA and Alan Northcote Sidnam of New York City predeceased her. Her surviving family includes her sister-in-law Barbara Abernethy of Phoenix, AZ; her son and daughter-in-law Alan and Jerry Heath of Lafayette, CO; her son Geoff Heath of Gaylord, MI; granddaughter Mollie Niess and her husband Tyler of Westminster, CO; granddaughter Katherine Heath of Boulder, CO; and two great-grandsons Duncan and Malcolm Niess of Westminster, CO. A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock Monday in the chapel at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 247 W. Lovell St. with the Rev. Beth McLaren, presiding. There will be no visitation. Private inurnment will take place in the church columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Frank A. Heath Scholarship Fund for Dental Hygiene at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation or to Kalamazoo College. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
