WHITE, James C.
Of Portage Passed away Monday evening, July 26, 2010. James was born in 1916, in Luther, MI the son Charles and Mary White. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Signal Corps during World War II. Prior to his retirement he was employed for over 30 years with Michigan Bell. James enjoyed wood working, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In 1989, he was united in marriage to the former Florence Gleason who survives. Also surviving are 4 step-children, David Warren, Christine Porter, Stephen Lynn Warren, Kathryn Gene Porterfield; 4 grandchildren, Greg, Brian, Andrew, Cathy; 4 great-grandchildren; nephews, Jim White, Jerry Owens; and a niece, Susan Huss. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Frank White. Services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Pastor Evelyn Diephouse officiaiting. Friends may meet the family Friday from 1-2:00 at the chapel. Private interment will be in South Portage Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Pine Island Presbyterian Church.
