James Eugene Tuinier, age 69, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born May 5, 1939, in Kalamazoo, the son of the late John W. and Helen Rebecca Treistram Tuinier. He had been a longtime Kalamazoo area resident until retiring seven years ago to Crossville, Tennessee. James had served in the U.S. Navy and later for many years was employed as a machinist, working mostly at Eaton Corp. and Durametalic Corp. In 1999, he married the former, Joyce Buxton who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Brad Hare of Tipp City, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tyler, Riley, A.J. and Haley; siblings, Donald Linda Tuinier of California, Linda Russell Whitfield of Arizona and Pat Roger Whitfield of Richland, MI; nieces and nephews. In accordance with James' wishes, private visitation and burial has taken place in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorials in James' memory may be directed to a charity of your choice.
