MEGINLEY, James G.
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon September 20, 2008. Jim was born October 6, 1927 in Ensley Center, MI the son of George and Esther Newberg Meginley. Jim became deaf when he was three years old from a bout with spinal meningitis. He worked for 13 years for Precast/Schokbeton, Inc. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church; the Michigan Deaf Association; and the Michigan Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Jim enjoyed working on various projects around the house and could fix anything. He also enjoyed deer hunting, traveling, sitting on his front porch, and watching closed caption television. On August 7, 1954 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Lois Neamen who preceded him in death on February 15, 2006. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; 2 sisters and a brother. Surviving are 2 children, Martha Meginley, Daniel Meginley and Roxanna LaPeer; 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua; a brother, Glenn Tootie Meginley; sister, Neva Sandoval; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:00PM Thursday at the Bethel Baptist Church, 402 S. Westnedge, with Pastor Dana Arledge officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 5-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kairos Dwelling or the Bethel Baptist Church.
