HATFIELD, James A.
of Kalamazoo Passed away July 5, 2011 as a result of an auto accident. He was born April 12, 1936 in Four Mile, KY, to the late Ace and Maggie Abner Hatfield, Sr. Jim was united in marriage to Annie Lawrence on June 5, 1959, she survives. Jim retired after 43 years at James River Corp. He loved to golf, travel, loved auto racing and Nascar. Jim was a 3 time track champion at Martin Dragway. He was a member of K.A.A.R.C. auto club. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandson. Surviving Jim are his wife, Annie; children, Debbie John Holtman of Delton and Rhonda Lon Smit of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Ashley Green, Justin Holtman and Krista Holtman; great grandson, Cody Blasius; sister, Pauline Alan Aman; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Also preceding Jim in death were, 4 brothers, Leonard, Elmer, Jack and Ace Hatfield, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Velma Matthews and Bertha Hatfield. Family will greet friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where services will take place on Saturday at 11:00, Mr. James Abshagen, officiating. Burial will follow at East Cooper Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
