Portage, MI Died Saturday morning January 17, 2009. Jim was born November 23, 1935 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Charles and Frances Peters Goole. Years ago he served honorably with the U.S. Army. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Upjohn Company for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He was also a member of the Schoolcraft Eagles. Jim enjoyed watching Detroit professional sports teams, and Nascar racing. He also liked being outdoor fishing and boating. Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step mother who raised him, Rose Goole. On April 20, 1973, he was united in marriage to Frances Terpstra Goole who survives. Also surviving, 2 children, Christie Steve Rambadt of Gun Lake and Eric Sheila Goole of Vicksburg; 2 step children, Ed Pratt and Rita Key both of Portage; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Kellie Goole; 4 step grandchildren, Jeff Key, and B.J., Dale, and Lisa Pratt; a brother, Charles Jan Goole of Mattawan; a sister, Jeananne Russell Kittleton of Battle Creek, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at a later date. Friends may meet the family 4-7pm Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
