Jim passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 28, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on December 25, 1939 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late C. Louis and Mae (Timm) Cook. On July 8, 1972, Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Rehe. He attended Western Michigan University and was employed by Michigan Bell/AT&T/Lucent for 31 years until his retirement in 2000. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Patricia Cook; their two sons, Jason (Jennifer) Cook of Paw Paw and Matthew Cook of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Carolyn and Daniel Cook; brother, C. William (Darla) Cook of Mendon; two sisters, Catherine (Charles) Emrick and Marianna Cook both of Lawton; sister-in-law, Mary Cook of Treasure Island, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, L. Timm and George Cook. Friends may visit with Jim's family from 2-4 PM on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Friends may also visit with the family from 10-11 AM on Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Ave, where a funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 11:00 AM. Fr. Dan Doctor will officiate. Following the luncheon at church, interment will be in South Portage Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or St. Vincent de Paul Society. Jim's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Rose Arbor for their care and compassion given to both Jim and his family.
