BRITTON, James L., Sr.
Vicksburg Passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at his home. He was born March 18, 1938 in Kalamazoo, the son of Joseph and Vernice Miller Britton and was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. Jim retired from the Gibson Guitar Co. after 16 ½ years of service. He loved hunting, fishing and was an excellent marksman in bow and arrow and guns. He was also a classic car buff. On March 20, 1965, he married Sally Thomas, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Deborah Terry Freer and David Britton Barber and his wife, Sasha Pfau; 5 grandchildren, Robert Britton, Daniel, Amber, Sally and Rachel Freer; a sister, Jo Ann Thomas Miller; nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James L. Britton, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., with Pastor Tom Danger officiating. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 1-3 PM.
