Passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born January 19, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Arthur and Hazel Newkirk. Jackie was united in marriage to Fred Nitz (retired Sergeant Major) who preceded her in death in 1994. She later was married to Gerald Kimble, who survives. She was a member of the Portage Senior Center, the Red Hat Club and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. She and Gerald resided in Texas during the winter. Jackie will always be remembered as calling her loved ones, "precious". Jackie is survived by her husband, Gerald Kimble; children, James (Carolyn) Nitz, Kirk (Connie) Nitz and Kim (Stephanie) Nitz; grandchildren, Jim Nitz, Jr., Kristine Biddle, Karri Nitz and Brian Biddle; great grandson, Ian Biddle; former daughter-in-law, Kathie Nitz; brother, Arvin Newkirk; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend and neighbor, Emily. Jackie is also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Newkirk. The family will greet friends on Thursday, March 31st from 10-11am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where the funeral service will start at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery South. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jackie's name may be directed to Portage Senior Center or to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
