TIBBITTS, Jack R.
of Augusta, Michigan Following a courageous battle with cancer, died October 16, 2012 at the age of 80. He was born February 17, 1932 in Kalamazoo to the late Wilbur and Cletus Prough Tibbitts. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret Bell on June 13, 1955, who survives. For many years, he worked as a plasterer. Surviving Jack are his brother James Dixie Tibbitts and sister Sandy Gary Denton; sister-in-law, Carla Tibbitts; brother-in-law Francis Eleanor Bell; and, sixteen nieces and nephews. Preceding Jack in death were a brother, Wilbur "Sonny" Tibbitts, a sister, Beverly Knetsch, and a brother-in-law, Al Knetsch. Visitation will take place Sunday, October 21st from 2-5 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. Services will take place Monday, October 22nd at 11:30 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 22 Church St., Galesburg, with Rev. Whitney Brown officiating. Internment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the University of Michigan and the Humane Society.
