Kalamazoo, MI Jack passed away Friday morning, October 2, 2009, in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born July 13, 1944 in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Robert W. and Betty M. McNees Slater and had been a lifelong area resident. Jack was employed for 34 years with Georgia Pacific and later worked for Pfizer. He was a collector of things that interested him but his true joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Sandra Kay Slater. On March 2, 1964, Jack was united in marriage with the former Rosemary Campbell, who survives. Also surviving are: two sons, Mark Peggy Slater of Granger, IN and Ken Marie Slater of Richland; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Sandra, Joshua, Jeffrey, Kiersten and Lucas Slater; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Levi Caceres; two brothers, Gene Diane Slater of Alamo and David Slater of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:00 Friday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St., with Pastor Larry L. Kiser, officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with Pastor David Klahr, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home.
