On Friday, October 24, 2014, Jack was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born February 18, 1934 in Cadillac, MI the son of the late Robert F. and Edith M. Johnson Shepperly and lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. He was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church of Kalamazoo for 50 years and was employed by Meijer's as the Manager of the meat department for 33 years. He served in the United States Army for two years of active duty and 4 years in the reserves. On June 8, 1957, he married Ruth Ruis, who preceded him in death on September 14, 2009. Jack is survived by his sons, Jack Richard Julie Shepperly and Joel Nancy Shepperly; 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Lydia, Gregory and Morgan; and his twin sister, Jean Smith of Holland. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Shepperly. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 30, 2014 in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Baker, officiating. Interment will take place in West Cooper Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kalamazoo Christian Schools Association KCSA.org.
