Formerly of Kalamazoo Passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009. Jack was born May 21, 1919 in Mystic, Iowa, a son of Samuel G. and Nellie Davis Reeves and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for over 85 years. He was employed by James River Company for 43 years, and retired as a plant superintendant. Jack served his country during WW II in the United States Navy, where he was a Petty Officer in the PT fleet. He was an avid sportsman, playing in the City League Athletics in softball and basketball and coaching in the Kalamazoo Little League for many years. He loved golfing, bowling and was an excellent carpenter. Jack was a member of Bethany Reformed Church, VFW Post 1527 and the Craftsman Club. On August 31, 1940, he married Charlotte Mae Watson, who preceded him in death on December 28, 2005 after 67 years of marriage. He was also preceded by his parents; 4 sisters, Verna Sampson, Alice Maletta, Beth Selmecy and Emma O'Neil; 2 brothers, Daniel Reeves and Charles Reeves. Jack is survived by his children, David D. Patricia Reeves of Vicksburg, Thomas W. Reeves of South Haven and Mary Beth Reeves of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Steven Reeves, Daniel Reeves, Shannon Andrew Preda and David Jacob "Jake" Tabatha Reeves; 8 great grandchildren, Amberly Reeves, Ryan Reeves, Madelyn Reeves, Liam Reeves, Nicholas Preda, Alex Preda, Morgan Reeves and Sara Parish-Reeves; 1 great great granddaughter, Haylie Reeves; many nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends and his church family. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick St., with Rev. Dr. Robert Terwilliger officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel 622 S. Burdick St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
